SEJARAH TERBENTUKNYA WESTLIFE

Asal Mula
Cerita tentang Westlife, berawal pada tahun
1996 di Sligo, sebuah kotakecil di sebelah utara Irlandia. 3 orang remaja,
Shane Filan, Kian Egan, danMark Feehily yang sering aktif dalam kegiatan teater
di Ummerhill College.Ketiga orang remaja tersebut mendapat peran utama dalam
sebuah dramaGrease dan penampilan mereka itu menjadi batu loncatan yang besar.
Padasuatu malam setelah pertunjukan, ketika mereka latihan vocal
sambilbercanda, tiba-tiba Mary McDonagh mendekatinya dan berkata, ”Saya
inginkalian membentuk sebuah band”. Setelah itu mereka mulai
membawakanlagu-lagu ”Take That”, sebuah band yang mega populer di
pertengahantahun 90-an. Ketika akan diberi nama, Mary memberikan sebuah nama
yangsangat aneh yaitu ”6 As 1” ( Kian, Shane, Mark, Derek, Michael, danGraham
). Awal tahun 1997, mereka berenam mulai tampil di teater-teater diSligo dan
banyak orang yang langsung nge-fans dengan boy band baru ini.

6 As 1 Menjadi IOU
Fans mereka di Sligo terus bertambah. Pada
bulan Agustus 1997, 6 As 1tampil dengan membawakan lagu-lagu dari Boyzone dan
Backstreet Boys( BSB ) di hadapan lebih dari 500 orang. Tapi, mereka mempunyai
1keluhan yaitu tidak menyukai nama boy band-nya. Jadi merekamemutuskan untuk
mengganti nama boy band mereka menjadi IOU. IOUkemudian merekam sebuah single
yang berjudul ”To Get A Girl Forever”.Sebuah acara berita TV lokal menayangkan
acara tersebut dan ternyatapenampilan mereka itu menarik perhatian Louish
Walsh, manager dari
group band pop yang paling sukses di Eropa,
Boyzone.

Tampil Bersama Backstreet Boys ( BSB)
Kesempatan untuk menjadi band pembuka konser
BSB merupakankejutan yang besar untuk IOU. Fans BSB sebanyak 9.500 orang
ternyatapuas dengan penampilan IOU. Sayangnya ada 1 masalah, walaupun IOUsudah
bagus namun suara Shane, Kian, dan Mark tidak cocok denganketiga personil
lainnya. Oleh karena itu, terpaksa dilakukan beberapaperunbahan.

Ganti Lagi Menjadi Westside
Setelah keputusan untuk memecah IOU, maka
Shane, Kian, dan Marktampil sebagai trio. Tapi ternyata masih ada yang yang
kurang dari suaramereka bertiga. Mereka merasa perlu ada vocal tambahan agar
suaramereka benar-benar harmonis. Maka diadakan audisi di Dublin, Irlandiauntuk
mencari personil keempat. Ratusan penyanyi muda yang antusiasikut dalam audisi
tersebut, termasuk di antaranya Nicky Byrne dan BryanMcFadden. Nicky dan Bryan
pun sebenarnya sudah lama berteman. Merekaberdua sering bermimpi menjadi anggota
group dan sejak masih kanak-kanak. Mereka berharap= keduanya bisa terpilih,
tapi yang dicari hanya 1orang. Namun keberuntungan tenyata memihak kepada
mereka. AkhirnyaNicky dan Bryan pun menjadi personila IOU. Untuk memulai
langkah yangbaru, mereka mengganti nama boy band-nya untuk ketiga kalinya.
Namaboy band mereka adalah Westside ( yang merupakan sebuah penghargaanterhadap
Sligo, kampung halaman Shane, Kian,dan Mark di westside-nyaIrlandia).

Akhirnya Menjadi Westlife
Kehidupan Shane, Kian, Mark, Bryan, dan Nicky
sebagai Westsideternyata tidak berlangsung lama. Karena nama Westside sudah
menjadinama group band lain. Oleh karena itu, kelima cowok keren ini
terpaksamengganti nama boy band-nya untuk keempat kalinya. Kali ini
merekamemilih nama Westlife. Pada bulan Juli 1998, Westlife mulai tampil
kelilingInggris bersama Boyzone dan pada bulan Oktober, mereka
menerimapenghargaan dari majalah Smash Hits Award sebagai ”Best New Tour
Act”.Pada tanggal 19 April 1999, single mereka yang berjudul ”Swear It Again”menjadi
best seller. Dengan dirilisnya single kedua ”If I Let You Go”,Westlife berhasil
menjadi boy band pertama yang kedua single-nyamenduduki posisi puncak di tangga
lagu Inggris. Tapi mereka tidak puassampai di situ. Single ketiga, keempat, dan
kelima juga berhasil duduk diperingkat pertama tangga lagu Inggris dan
merupakan sebuah kesuksesanbesar yang tidak pernah dirasakan group band mana
pun di Inggris.

Dari 5 Personil Menjadi 4
Setelah sekitar 7 tahun bersama, akhirnya Bryan
McFadden memutuskanuntuk keluar dari Westlife. Keputusan ini sangat disayangkan
oleh banyakpihak. Terutama rekan-rekan Westlife. Bryan memilih untuk
menghabiskansebagian besar waku bursama keluarganya. Ia juga memilih untuk
berkarir sebagai penyanyi solo. Meskipun terasa begitu berat, namun Shane,
Nicky,Kian, dan Mark dapat menerimanya jika itu yang terbaik. Sejak tanggal
9Maret 2005, Bryan resmi meninggalkan dan bukan lagi merupakan
personilWestlife.

- Monitor Tabung sinar Kathoda
Tabung sinar katoda (bahasa Inggris: cathode ray tube atau CRT), ditemukan oleh Karl Ferdinand Braun, merupakan sebuah tabung penampilan yang banyak digunakan dalam layar komputer, monitor video, televisi dan oskiloskop. CRT dikembangkan dari hasil kerja Philo Farnsworth yang dipakai dalam seluruh pesawat televisi sampai akhir abad 20, dan merupakan dasar perkembangan dari layar plasma, LCD dan bentuk teknologi TV lainnya. Tabung sinar katoda pada pesawat televisi 14 inch.
Versi paling awal CRT adalah sebuah dioda katoda-dingin, sebuah modifikasi dari tabung Crookes (lihat sinar-X) dengan layar dilapisi fosfor, kadangkala dipanggil tabung Braun. Versi pertama yang menggunakan kathoda panas dikembangkan oleh J.B. Johnson (yang merupakan asal istilah noise Johnson) dan H.W. Weinhart dari Western Electric dan menjadi produk komersial pada 1922. Sejarah
Tampilan plasma diciptakan di Universitas Illinois oleh Donald L. Bitzer dan H. Gene Slottow pada 1964 untuk Sistem Komputer PLATO. Panel monochrome orisinal (biasanya oranye atau hijau) menikmati penggunaan yang bertambah pada awal 1970-an karena tampilan ini kuat dan tidak membutuhkan sirkuit memori dan penyegaran.
Namun diikuti oleh kurangnya penjualan yang dikarenakan perkembangan semikonduktor memori membuat tampilan CRT sangat murah pada akhir 1970-an. Dimulai dari dissertasi PhD Larry Weber dari Universitas Illinois pada 1975 yang berhasil membuat tampilan plasma berwarna, dan akhirnya berhasil mencapai tujuan tersebut pada 1995. Sekarang ini sangat terangnya dan sudut pandang lebar dari panel berwarna plasma telah menyebabkan tampilan ini kembali mendapatkan kepopulerannya. - Monitor LCD
LCD(Inggris: Liquid Crystal Display)/Tampilan kristal cair juga dikenal adalah suatu jenis media tampilan yang menggunakan kristal cair sebagai penampil utama. LCD sudah digunakan di berbagai bidang misalnya dalam alat-alat elektronik seperti televisi, kalkulator ataupun layar komputer.
Kini LCD mendominasi jenis tampilan untuk komputer desktop maupun notebook karena membutuhkan daya listrik yang rendah, bentuknya tipis, mengeluarkan sedikit panas, dan memiliki resolusi tinggi. Pada LCD berwarna semacam monitor, terdapat banyak sekali titik cahaya (piksel) yang terdiri dari satu buah kristal cair sebagai sebuah titik cahaya. Walau disebut sebagai titik cahaya, kristal cair ini tidak memancarkan cahaya sendiri. Sumber cahaya di dalam sebuah perangkat LCD adalah lampu neon berwarna putih di bagian belakang susunan kristal cair tadi.
Titik cahaya yang jumlahnya puluhan ribu bahkan jutaan inilah yang membentuk tampilan citra. Kutub kristal cair yang dilewati arus listrik akan berubah karena pengaruh polarisasi medan magnetik yang timbul dan oleh karenanya akan hanya membiarkan beberapa warna diteruskan sedangkan warna lainnya tersaring. - Monitor OLED
Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) atau dioda cahaya organik adalah sebuah semikonduktor sebagai pemancar cahaya yang terbuat dari lapisan organik. OLED digunakan dalam teknologi elektroluminensi, seperti pada aplikasi tampilan layar atau sensor. Teknologi ini terkenal fleksibel dengan ketipisannya yang mencapai kurang dari 1 mm.
